Krysia Boinis and Greg Martin
Organic skin products may seem like a relatively new concept in the ever-growing "green" market place, but Krysia Boinis and Greg Martin have been in the business since 1996. The roots of this organic skin care manufacturing company began with Krysia making candles in her garage. That process evolved into Krysia forming a line of private-label, hot-pour skin care products. Krysia could see a niche sprouting in the natural cosmetic industry and wanted to enter the market.
As the company began to grow, Krysia and Greg were met with some skepticism in their approach for financial assistance. Some banks identified them with cottage industry soap makers and finding financial help was a problem. In 2002, Krysia contacted WESST to seek business consulting and financial assistance. After meeting with Krysia and Greg, the advisors at WESST found Plenish to be a promising and viable small business and granted them the first of several loans. In just six months, Plenish doubled the size of its facility and the business began to blossom.
In the following years, Plenish has continued to expand its operation with updated manufacturing equipment and processes. In 2003, Krysia won the Rural Entrepreneur Award. In 2005, sales approached $1 million. Now, in 2008, Plenish has surpassed the $5 million mark in total sales. In the history of the company, WESST has been a constant ally.
In recent correspondence, Krysia Boinis said, "Thanks for being our long-time supporters. WESST provides an invaluable service to small businesses in New Mexico."
Located in Taos, Plenish produces chemical free organic products for an expanded market. Krysia and Greg have nurtured the business into a facility with 12 full-time employees and are actively pursuing markets in the US and the UK.
