The WESST Enterprise Center in Roswell is part of a nationwide network of Women’s Business Centers (WBCs) funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Women’s Business Ownership (OWBO). The WBC program was founded to foster the growth of woman-owned businesses by providing access to education, training, mentoring, business development and financing opportunities to women throughout the United States and its territories.
The Roswell Enterprise Center serves emerging and existing small business owners (men and women) in seven counties in southeastern New Mexico: Chavez, Curry, de Baca, Eddy, Lea, Lincoln, and Roosevelt.
Located in the “most famous Alien City in the world,” the Roswell office has made important contributions to economic growth in the southeastern New Mexico, a largely rural territory.
We work with businesses in all market sectors including service, technology, retail, manufacturing, and wholesale sectors — in any phase of development. Our clients include start-ups, established entrepreneurs, expanding businesses, non-profit organizations, and small to large public, private, and educational entities. We’re here to provide guidance through all aspects of planning, operating and growing a successful business including marketing, finances and profit control, and management. Services
Services range from business consulting and training to loans to help start or grow a business. Class size is limited to 4-6 students and a certificate of completion is awarded. Most classes are $25.00 & pre-paid registration is required. Group or customized classes are available. Charges for consulting services are based on a sliding scale. Here’s an overview of our offerings:
- Small Business (SBA-certified) Micro-Loans (from $200 – $10,000 for start-up businesses and up to $50,000 for existing businesses.
- Bi-Lingual Business Assistance
- Business Consulting (for any stage of a business’ maturity – from marketing to management assistance)
- Business Incorporation Workshops and Assistance
- PC Applications Workshops and End-user Support (MS/Windows, MS/Office, QuickBooks, Internet Resources, and Basic Computer Skills)
- Tax Planning and Reporting Workshops
- Payroll Assistance
- Social Media Workshops
- Regional Networking Events
WESST also offers free use of its computer lab to clients.
Awards
The Roswell office received a national award from the U.S. Small Business Administration in 2010. The Women’s Business Center of of Excellence award recognized the Roswell office for its “excellence and innovation helping women entrepreneurs through a wide variety of of training and consulting,” said SBA Administrator Karen G. Mills in awarding WESST this honor.
Anthony Urquidez, WESST’s Roswell Regional Manager, was also recognized by the SBA in 2010, winning the Minority Small Business Champion of the Year award.
