Awards and Recognition

As one of the first women's business center networks in the country, WESST has received numerous awards and other recognition for its innovative programs and services.

  • In 2009, WESST was selected by New Mexico Business Weekly, as one of the Ten Best Places to Work.
  • In 2007, WESST Corp was cited as one of 13 Best Practice organizations in the country in a report issued by the Urban Institute and the Kauffman Foundation entitled: "Capital Access for Women: Profile and Analysis of U.S. Best Practice Programs."
  • WESST Corp staff members have been selected as the SBA's Women's Business Advocate of the Year on six occasions.
  • In 2005, Executive Director Agnes Noonan was recognized as one of ten "Women of Influence" by the New Mexico Business Weekly; in the same year, Ms. Noonan was an inaugural inductee into Junior Achievement's New Mexico Business Hall of Fame.
  • WESST Corp was one of the original 15 organizations in the country selected to participate in MICROTEST—a national project spearheaded by the Aspen Institute that established performance standards for the field of microenterprise development.
  • In 2003, WESST Corp was nominated for a prestigious AEO Innovation Award for its Perfect Pitch™ curriculum, and for a New Mexico Business Ethics Award.
  • In 1994, the United States Library of Congress cited WESST Corp as one of the outstanding business assistance programs in New Mexico.
