This month we are featuring VP of Development, Dianne Campbell.  Dianne joined WESST in 2015 with more than 10 years of experience in development.  We hope you enjoy!

What made you want to come to work for WESST?

WESST’s reputation for being a well-run, stellar organization got me in the door and once I met everyone I felt the energy and genuine desire for overall and individual excellence and I knew that I wanted to be a part of this team. As we often say at WESST, onward and upward.

What was your very first job?

I worked as a receptionist at a car dealership during college. I worked the afternoon/evening shift daily from 3-9 and all day on Saturday. I answered the phone, interfaced with happy and not-so-happy customers, ordered lunch/dinner for the team, babysat the general manager’s kids, babysat the entire staff of car salesmen (all men at that time) and talked with everyone. I guess it was one of my first development jobs.

What’s your favorite part of working here?

I love my co-workers. I often say that we come from such varied backgrounds, yet we are similar because of our passion for helping others and the desire to transform our communities. We are a dedicated team working together to empower people to better their lives through education and entrepreneurship.

What do you do when you are not working?

I love plants. My house is filled with African violets, orchids and my dear fig tree.  Outside I grow perennials, bulbs, annuals, veggies, you name it. I live along the Bosque and find that walks with my dog give me peace. He doesn’t argue or talk back and I can enjoy listening to a new indie music mix or the nature around me.  I have an energetic, chatty and funny 9 year old son who races BMX and can’t stand spelling tests or math facts. Together, he and my husband occupy every remaining minute. Life is good, but sheesh, I’m tired.

What do you wish people knew about WESST?

I wish people really understood what we do. Sure, our clients, the folks who KNOW us get it, but we are so much more than we can put into words. Yes, we are a home to entrepreneurs and we provide a support system of consulting, training, and lending to ANYONE willing to do the work, but we are MORE. We are family. We strive to be a trusted part of every business owner’s life, every day, with something we have given them, taught them, or inspired them to do. We really love our clients and we love what we do.
