Kim became familiar with WESST after attending the first annual WE Mean Business: Unstoppable Summit in December 2024, co-hosted by WESST and NMSU’s Arrowhead Center.  “From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and supported. I saw how committed WESST was to helping business owners like me, and that experience made me want to learn more and build a relationship,” says Kim. 

After 20 years in real estate, Kim decided to start over and launch her own jewelry business from scratch. She didn’t yet have a business plan or clear idea of where to sell, but she had the passion, creativity, and desire to build something of her own. 

“When I connected with WESST, they were more than helpful. They were kind, patient, and made me feel like my ideas truly mattered. They didn’t just give me advice—they listened. When Kim was unsure, she knew she had to start somewhere, and that WESST would be there right by her side.  

“Monica recommended a local shop where I could offer my services, and it turned into a real opportunity: I ended up putting my jewelry for sale there.” Kim says, “WESST didn’t just give me advice, they opened a door I didn’t even know was there.”
