WESST is seeking an experienced development professional for award-winning statewide non-profit economic development organization. Key Responsibilities

Financial Resourcing
Accountable for raising sufficient resources, which may include major gifts, planned gifts, corporate donations, individual contributions, grant solicitations, and in-kind resources to ensure the annual budget requirements are met to effectively carry out WESST’s mission and strategic goals.

Community Outreach and Marketing
Accountable for effectively positioning yourself in the community to foster and sustain strong donor relationships and to draw awareness to WESST and its services.

Development Program Management
Accountable for managing the overall success of the Development Department, ensuring that qualitative and quantitative impact through robust business development is accomplished.

Necessary Skills and Experience

Financial Resourcing

  •  Interact with donors at the private, corporate, and governmental levels to acquire sufficient resources.
  •  Cultivate new donors and maintain positive relationships with all donors.
  •  Interact with and maintain positive relationships with community leaders.
  •  Liaison to donors and grant providers to keep them updated on the use of resources provided.
  • Utilize and/or improve existing special events and establish new special events to raise money and to retain and cultivate donors.
  •  Promote and gather matching contributions to support grants and/or program funds.
  •  Collaborate with staff team members on grant writing and submissions.
  •  Interact frequently with WESST staff to identify and improve financial resourcing initiatives.

Community Outreach and Marketing

  • Develop and nurture strong community relationships.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with funders, resource partners, the media, community representatives and other   entities with whom WESST interfaces.
  •  Make individual and group presentations that result in positive awareness and the recruitment of new donors.
  •  Utilize and/or customize marketing collateral and distribute to foster donor awareness and support donor recruitment.
  •  Leverage marketing tactics to present client success stories and increase exposure to the community.

Development Program Management

  • Represent WESST as an ambassador for what we do and who we are. Work with donors in a professional, courteous, timely and responsive manner.
  •  Maximize the effective use of time to deliver the highest level of impact.
  •  Maintain a vibrant and accurate donor base and pipeline that is tracked in a database.
  •  Oversee the administration of an accurate donor mailing list and database that respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information.
  •  Interface with the Finance Department to reconcile contributions and allocations.
  •  Support and influence the recruitment of Development Committee members.
  •  Interface with and influence the Development Committee members to ensure an active and productive committee is in place.
  •  Collaborate with the Development Committee, the Board of Directors, and the President to create a fundraising development plan that includes annual  contributive income targets.
  •  Develop and manage activities and timelines for fundraising to ensure critical fundraising and strategic plans are carried out in a timely manner.
  •  Evaluate, course correct as necessary and report out on fundraising activities to ensure that annual fundraising goals are being achieved.
  •  Work in partnership with staff members to understand and represent WESST programs, services, special initiatives.
  •  Become familiar with clients’ stories and share these stories with donors and potential donors.
  •  Review, modify and implement guidelines and procedures to enhance the effectiveness and overall success of the Development Department.
  •  Maintain working knowledge of general and local business development trends and recommend and/or drive changes and modifications to generate maximized success.
  •  Attend and actively participate in all WESST statewide staff meetings and invited functions.
  •  Recruit, integrate, supervise, evaluate, develop, and as necessary terminate directly aligned resources.
  •  Build capability among team members to enable a high level of productivity and self-sufficiency.

Education Requirements

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution is required.
