Paleteria La Reyna Michoacana

Updated: Oct 11

Silvia Terrazas first heard about WESST through word of mouth back in 1999. She was getting ready to open her first business, a Spanish-language video rental store. In 2000, Silvia received a $1,500 loan from WESST for her grand opening.  Fast forward 25 years, and Silvia has continued to work with WESST and is now preparing for her second grand opening of her food truck.

After receiving her initial loan, Silvia continued attending WESST workshops, learning how to write a business plan, understand product costs, and calculate profits. “WESST helped me start and grow my business from renting videos and selling candy and piñatas to growing La Reina Michoacana to a million-dollar business,” says Silvia.

There were obstacles along the way to her growth, from language barriers to understanding US business laws. “WESST helped me fill out applications, access workshops, and connect with other entrepreneurs.”  Sylvia refers to WESST as “a friendly hand” that provided support and knowledge in growing her businesses.

“Thanks to WESST, I learned how to present my ideas, speak more confidently in public, and even inspire others with my story. And to know that dreams are possible.”
