Daniela Reyes and Flor Guaderrama participated in THE (Training Home Educators) Accelerator, a collaborative child care business accelerator between WESST, Growing Up New Mexico, and Partnership for Community Action, and learned about WESST. As they were starting their child care business, they were exploring lending opportunities and came in for a consultation.
The biggest challenge Daniela and Flor faced has been the high cost of starting a child care business, from equipment and facility upgrades to staffing and insurance. On top of the financial strain, they also had to meet all the licensing and regulatory requirements in order to move forward. The process was detailed and time-consuming but essential to ensure safety, compliance, and long-term success.
Working with WESST, Daniela and Flor created a business plan, helping to keep them accountable and achieve their goals. Daniela was also guided through a cash flow projection, allowing her to see how their business would progress. After they created their business plan and cash flow projections, they were able to submit their application to WESST’s underwriting team for a loan.
WESST guided us step by step through the loan application process, making sure we understood every detail and requirement. Stevan provided invaluable support in developing a business plan that outlined our goals and vision.
Daniela and Flor received the loan they needed to launch their child care center. Happy Kids is now enrolling for bilingual education in English and Spanish for infant and toddler care, pre-school and after school programming.
