WESST Launches 2012 Invest in WESST Job Creation Challenge

WESST board member, Don Chalmers, announced the launch of WESST’s 2012 Job Creation Challenge in Santa Fe on Thursday, August 2, 2012, with the goal of creating more jobs in New Mexico.

The $100,000 Challenge, sponsored by Bank of America and the Frank D. Gorham, Jr. & Marie Kelly Gorham Charitable Foundation, matches 10 $5,000 donations to WESST, allowing the new donors to be recognized at the $10,000 giving level.

Paul Weaver, Private Client Advisor for U.S. Trust Private Wealth Management on behalf of Bank of America told a crowd of over 70, “We are thrilled to partner with WESST on this effort! WESST has been a leading organization in this arena for almost 25 years, committed to growing New Mexico’s economy by cultivating entrepreneurship and small business success.”

Trustee Mark Gorham of the Gorham Foundation had the following words in support of the opportunity: “The Gorham foundation has been thrilled to partner with WESST in their job creation challenge, and to facilitate sustainable job creation in New Mexico. We believe that WESST has an incredibly successful prototype that should be fully embraced by our community.”

In the past four years alone, WESST’s support system for small business development has directly resulted in the creation of 1,159 jobs in New Mexico.
