WESST Blog

Staff Spotlight – Brad Crowson

By Lorena Schott | November 8, 2016

We’re back!  We took a little break from our blog series, but we are back and hope you enjoy learning about our Rio Rancho Regional Manager, Brad Crowson!

What made you want to come to work for WESST?

Actually, I was referred by a former colleague.  She and I would touch base from time to time, and she would tell me of all the great things that WESST was doing statewide and what she was doing in her community, and it sounded like something I wanted to be a part of.  When I saw the Rio Rancho opening on the website, I immediately called her to inquire about it.  One thing led to another, and here I am!  I am so happy to be affiliated with such an amazing group of people that work every day to help small businesses and entrepreneurs across the state of New Mexico achieve their dreams. .

What was your very first job?

My first job was working as a sacker at a local grocery store when I was in high school.  Back in those days the sackers not only sacked the groceries, we were responsible for carrying them out to the customers’ cars and then quickly running the cart back inside to help the next customer.  The store manager was big on that!  I learned a lot about hard work, and I stayed in great shape!  Beginning about the age of 10 and continuing throughout high school, I also mowed lawns in the summers for extra money.  I remember my grandfather buying me a mower of my own for my business when I was in junior high (metallic-flaked purple!), and I wore that thing out.

What’s your favorite part of working here?

I really enjoy interacting with my clients on a daily basis.  The clients I work with are amazing; creative, smart, and always willing to listen and implement new ideas.  I get to see their business ideas take shape and blossom every day!  It’s pretty amazing to be a part of that.

What do you do when you’re not working?

I love the outdoors and enjoy riding my mountain bike, hiking, camping, and skiing.  Fall is absolutely my favorite time of the year:  A little chill in the air and college and pro football.  I can usually be found watching, in person or on TV, the Lobos, Texas Tech, and Dallas Cowboys games on the weekends.  I also love to read; mostly non-fiction.

What do you wish people knew about WESST?

I wish more people realized what a tremendous resource WESST is for entrepreneurs and small business owners throughout the state and how easy it is to access the services we provide.  We have a talented group of people that are absolutely committed to our clients’ success!  We get to help make dreams come true every day!
