WESST Announces Grand Opening of the Comcast Digital Media Studio

WESST announces the much anticipated Grand Opening of the Comcast Digital Media Studio at the WESST Enterprise Center.

“The Comcast Digital Media Studio at WESST is Albuquerque’s most modern and efficient facility for digital media production. It is a leading edge production studio featuring state-of-the-art equipment and a 3-wall green cyclorama (“green screen”) for flexibility and immersive animation in creating digital media. We can also seat an audience of up to 42 for film screenings or live studio events” said Russell Combs, Managing Director of the WESST Enterprise Center.

The studio is available to the public with hourly rates. “Customers may choose to just rent the space and bring their own equipment (such as cameras and light stands), or they may rent some or all of our leading edge gear. This will simplify their production process, as customers won’t need to rent and transport equipment from other places,” said Combs. “We also have an adjacent video editing bay and Apple workstations, so a production can be created from start to finish on site and with our equipment – perfect for those who are starting out, or who want to take advantage of our high-end gear to create high quality media.”

Combs added, “The studio is ideal for producing TV or movie scenes, marketing and advertising materials, distance learning programs, animation, events with a live studio audience, or video screenings.” The support space includes changing rooms and a break area. The Comcast Digital Media Studio at WESST was made possible through collaborative funding and support from the City of Albuquerque, Comcast, the EDA, the State of New Mexico, the private sector and countless volunteers.

“Comcast is proud of our investment and partnership with WESST, the Comcast Digital Media Studio is just one way that we support organizations that move our communities forward through leadership, empowerment, technology and innovation,” said Chris Dunkeson, New Mexico Area Vice President for Comcast.

Combs concluded, “This new asset lines up beautifully with WESST’s mission to create and grow businesses. It is our vision that the studio enables local businesses of all types to produce their digital media and for local digital media professionals to stay here and help Albuquerque grow as a regional industry hub for digital media, given the leading edge capability of this facility”.
