Staff Spotlight – Humberto Hijar-Alvidrez

For this month’s blog we decided to switch things up a little and do another staff spotlight in order to introduce you to the new Las Cruces Regional Manager, Humberto Hijar-Alvidrez.  Prior to joining WESST, Humberto was a business consultant for the Small Business Development Center in Las Cruces.  He holds a Bachelors of Business Administration in International Business and a Masters in Economics from New Mexico State University.  He also taught Economics and Mathematics for Dona Ana Community college and El Paso Community College.  We are very happy to have Humberto as part of the WESST family!

What made you want to come to work for WESST?

The ability to reach out and assist the community though the wonderful services WESST offers.

What was your very first job?

I was a mathematics tutor!

What’s your favorite part of working here?

I am very passionate about serving. The philosophy of being here on this planet to be of service to others has always been my main motivation for my professional development.

What do you do when you’re not working?

I thoroughly enjoy my time with my wife and two little ones. We are always looking for new adventures and I am incredibly blessed that they share their time with me.

What do you wish people knew about WESST?

How hard people in the organization work to be a resource to the community.
