Angela Flores’ journey to entrepreneurship began with a different dream—becoming a deputy sheriff for Lea County. Motivated and determined, she pursued this goal with heart, but after failing the required physical fitness exam, she faced a moment of reckoning. She didn’t give up though – with the encouragement of a friend, she began a rigorous routine, trained for a year, and then passed the exam.
Something unexpected happened during her year of physical transformation, and Angela discovered her true passion wasn’t law enforcement, but fitness. She realized she loved the process of training, not just for herself, but for others, especially women. Her goal shifted from serving the public through a badge to empowering women through strength training.
Angela dreamed of opening her own gym: a space designed for women, by women, where her clients could feel supported, seen, and strong. Like many entrepreneurs, she didn’t know where to start and went to the Hobbs Hispano Chamber of Commerce for help. Sergio Polanco, Hispano Chamber President & CEO, referred Angela to WESST.
WESST provided support to legitimize Angela’s business structure, navigate the legal and regulatory landscape, and make her dream a reality. From the initial walk through with a realtor to the final signing of her lease, WESST has been there. Angela has created more than a gym with BeYou Fitness, she’s created a sanctuary for transformation.
