Silver City, NM: Lauren Bland

Silver City, NM: Lauren learned about WESST through word of mouth from a fellow colleague, and she connected with WESST in May 2026. She loves a good pun and aptly named her business Resale Therapy, after her history as a physical therapist.

One of the biggest barriers for Lauren was taking the leap and pivoting from regular life to starting her business venture. She is a full-time Doctor of Physical Therapy but always knew she wanted to start a business in another industry. She was passionate about filling a need and niche in the community, and Lauren, being an avid thrifter herself, often traveled to bigger cities to go thrifting. She always wished a resale store existed closer to home and asked herself, "Why don't I start one?"

After polling the community and knowing the struggle of finding quality resale clothes in a rural area, Lauren saw the vision and felt compelled to bring this to Silver City. The business formed quickly as she found a prime location in March that needed to be filled and rented by June. In just three months she secured the storefront, collected inventory, and started preparing to open to meet deadlines. An unexpected hurdle became navigating the local and state business requirements and regulations and the steps in which a startup is expected to complete them.

After learning about WESST, Lauren reached out to inquire about resources to assist startups and become knowledgeable in the business side of things to better position her business to be successful.

I heard about WESST through a colleague at work.  I am looking forward to our continued work with WESST developing my marketing strategy and cash flow. I'm so grateful that such a great resource exists to help startups like me.

Retail Therapy had their grand opening in June 2026. The business sells upscale pre-loved clothing items for women and men, as well as linens and housewares, and customers have the option to shop or sell for cash or store credit.
