Client Spotlight – Kosh Solutions

Kosh Solutions was founded as a home-based business in 2005 by Koert Council and Joshua Fristoe to provide quality computer and IT consulting service to an under-served market in Las Cruces, New Mexico. After six months of providing IT support on an hourly basis, Kosh moved out of their living room and into a Las Cruces commercial building. In 2008, Kosh wanted to expand into the Albuquerque market and became a WESST client. The company became WESST’s first incubator tenant when the WESST Enterprise Center opened for business in January, 2009.
Where did the “big idea” for your business come from?
My Dad had the idea originally around the lack of good IT support for Small Business.
What’s the most satisfying part of being an entrepreneur?
Seeing our clients succeed.

Building our company culture
What do you do when you’re not working?
Lately when I am not working I am spending time with family or going for a run
What’s the best piece of business advice you received before you launched your business?
Have a good accountant.
What is one quick tip you would give for someone who wants to start their own business?
Make a budget
What was your biggest takeaway from your work with WESST?
The biggest thing we have gotten out of working with WESST is improving our customer service quality.

Julianna Silva is a native New Mexican and a graduate of the UNM Anderson School of Management. She is also an entrepreneur and provides part-time marketing, accounting and operations support for her husband’s furniture studio. Prior to joining WESST, she consulted and provided mentoring and marketing services to non-profit organizations, women entrepreneurs, and artists.
At WESST, Julianna manages the incubator program in Albuquerque and works one on one with her clients to develop and implement business plans, accounting systems and marketing strategies.
