Maman Atelier manufactures and sells lingerie using environmentally friendly fabrics. Kai Lani Mayer, owner, believes that garments should be made to endure years of well-loved wear and, with proper care, can become more beautiful with time. She sells online and attends pop-up shops and events around the state to promote and sell her lingerie.

Kai Lani has been a WESST client since 2019. Her first class was Power Tools for Your Business. She decided to take that class to help her start her business selling undergarments. She met with a WESST consultant to refine her idea, write her business plan, and learn more about her target market. WESST helped connect her to a bookkeeper. Kai Lani was able to understand QuickBooks and gained confidence with her financials. She was eager to learn all aspects of her business.

In 2020 as the pandemic started, Kai Lani continued to attend training sessions and consultations at WESST and requested assistance with 100-day plan guidance to implement several processes to support the growth of her business. She hired an intern and taught her about the fashion industry from her perspective while assisting with marketing and production.

In November 2021, she found a location for her studio as she outgrew the space at her house and needed to expand her business. During the pandemic, she saw an uptick in people buying online and being more interested in her specialty garments and she expanded her collection. She continues to learn about the industry and feels more comfortable understanding the financials of her business.
