In 2024, Roman McCabe established McCabe Experiential Learning, specializing in team dynamics, consultation, and facilitation. When previously employed, McCabe Experiential Learning was just an idea, but Roman knew it would be beneficial for team building offered as a formal service. He had a special skillset in teaching and promoting diverse learning environments. Roman has been a rodeo announcer since he was 22 years old, and he is able to use this experience in both his facilitation and in building clientele.
He initially established his business as a sole proprietorship and eventually converted it into an LLC in 2025, and this is what brought him to WESST. He was very eager to understand how the business worked, and he became involved with WESST to build relationships with other small businesses. He had previously worked with one of WESST’s Native Women Rising contractors and said her “great perspectives” were helpful.
Roman needed some help with taxes, bookkeeping, and marketing. He wanted to make sure he was getting the word out to the right people and businesses. Through WESST, he was able to connect with the San Juan College (SJC) Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and New Mexico State University’s (NMSU) American Indian Business Enterprise Center (AIBE). Through these connections, “I was able to maneuver the things I wasn’t knowledgeable about,” says Roman.
The support WESST has provided for my business feels like they want me to be successful with my business and life. It has given me that confidence when the hard days of business happen.
