In the summer of 2005, Natasha Begay made the decision to formalize her jewelry business and establish an LLC. She had the necessary skills for her craft and passion, but she needed to make sure the foundation was built correctly. Natasha had learned about WESST through social media and local entrepreneurial resources, and she reached out to gain a clearer understanding of the steps she needed to take to form her LLC and grow her business.

Natasha found that navigating the legal and financial complexities of business ownership was a significant hurdle. Her expertise was in her heritage, having learned beading from her grandmother and silversmithing from her father, not the paperwork.

She didn’t have business background to scale, but WESST provided her that support, and Natasha was able to preserve her family’s artistic legacy and establish a business. “WESST helped me understand the steps needed to establish my LLC, to organize my business goals, and think strategically about growth.”

WESST gave me direction and confidence, and all the tools I needed to move forward. This helped me not feel overwhelmed and that the process was achievable. To me, silversmithing and beading are more than just skills—they are the voices of my father and grandmother. WESST didn't just build a business; they helped me honor my history.
